What is Lower Back Pain?
The lower back, or lumbar region, provides strength, support, and flexibility to your upper body. This area is prone to pain and injury from daily activities. Lower back pain can range from mild discomfort to severe, debilitating pain and can be caused by muscle strains, ligament sprains, herniated discs, and degenerative conditions. Symptoms include dull, achy pain, sharp burning sensations, or muscle spasms. Approximately 31 million Americans suffer from lower back pain at any given time.
